Family History Center Microfilm Loan Program
The Van Buren District Library Local History Collection in Decatur has been designated as a licensed microfilm loan center by the Family History Center (Church of Latter-Day Saints) in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Like hundreds of other sites around the world, library patrons now have millions of genealogical and historical records on microfilm available for loan to the Local History Collection in Decatur.
Microfilm are ordered 1-2 times per month and remain in the library for a 30-day loan period. The cost to patrons is the $5.50 per reel loan fee charged by the Family History Center.
All microfilm are available for public use during the 30-day period, however, the ordering patron has first priority.
Microfilm must stay in the library at all times. There will be no exceptions. The Local History Collection has three microfilm readers, two that print at a cost of $.25 per page. Copyright laws do apply and printing of an entire reel or item is prohibited.
Any library patron interested in using the Family History Center microfilm loan program should first visit the Family History Center website and access the Library Catalog. To place an order, send requests by email to lochist@vbdl.org. Orders must include the complete title and microfilm number for each item. Orders take approximately two weeks to come by mail.
