Children’s Services Committee
Purpose: The purpose of the Children’s Services Committee is to promote quality library services to children and youth. Activities may include but are not limited to:
- acting as a clearing house for information and materials of interest to librarians
- working with children and youth
- sponsoring workshops to promote continuing education and professional growth
- sharing ideas and programs to help libraries improve the quality of service to children and young adults in their areas
- developing resource materials such as specialized bibliographies, booklists, and story boxes
Continuing Education Committee
Purpose: to assist the Cooperative director in designing and implementing continuing education programs to meet the needs of the members of the Cooperative. Activities may include but are not limited to:
- sponsor workshops
- review applications for internships
- review and make recommendations for outside continuing education opportunities
- review and assess Cooperative continuing education needs and make recommendations
- review and recommend changes to the Cooperative continuing education policy
Planning and Evaluation Committee
Purpose: to plan and evaluate Cooperative programs, services, and policies and to make recommendations accordingly to the Advisory Council and the Governing Board. Activities may include but are not limited to:
- review the Plan of Service and the bylaws and other policies regularly
- review Cooperative service contracts
- review the annual Cooperative budget and make recommendation to Advisory Council
- develop and suggest new programs and services and submit such ideas and suggestions to the Advisory Council and the Governing Board
- evaluate Cooperative programs and services
- address such other issues as from time to time may be referred to the committee
Personnel Committee
Purpose: to be responsible for personnel matters of the Cooperative, subject to approval of the Governing Board. Membership of the Personnel Committee consists of:
- four members selected from the Governing Board, one of whom is the Governing Board president
- three members selected from the Advisory Council, appointed by the Council chair
- the Council chair, who serves as a non-voting ex officio member of the committee
Activities may include but are not limited to:
- establish a job description for the director and all other Cooperative personnel
- select a director
- establish salary and benefits for the director and all other Cooperative personnel
- review the performance of the director annually
- review and recommend changes to the Cooperative personnel policy
Purpose: to plan and evaluate Cooperative-wide electronic resources, services, and policies and to make recommendations accordingly to the Advisory Council and the Governing Board. Activities may include but are not limited to:
- in conjunction with the cooperative staff, act as liaison between the WLC membership and vendors
- review Cooperative eResources contracts
- explore and develop new services and submit such ideas and suggestions to the Advisory Council and the Governing Board
- address such other issues as from time to time may be referred to the committee
